About the group:
Sadarpura small village close to Delhi was predominately a habitat of the farming community with tilled land for a living. With the need for land for housing increasing, real estate companies bought over this land to make residential complexes. This led to the farmers losing their only source of income.
Narender Chauhan was one such farmer who lost his fields and his livelihood. He decided to set up a jewelry workshop with the support of ladies from the neighbourhood. These women did not have any training in making jewellery as they were farmers and some were migrant labour. CFM took them under their wing and gave them training, as they had the desire to learn and better their lives. The crafts women could now afford to send their children to school .Today many of them are master craft women who create beautiful handmade jewelry with the help of metal, beads, wire, chains etc. Their work is much appreciated by our overseas clients.
